Purpose of Journal

The African Medical Journal is a peer-reviewed international medical journal published by the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, Federal Medical Centre, Abuja, Nigeria. It is published online (open access) and in print bi-annually in the months of June and December.

AFMJ publishes scientific information online (open access) and in print bi-annually on all medical and surgical disciplines including basic medical sciences, health care management and economics. We publish in the form of original articles, review articles, brief reports, case reports, case series (minimum of five cases), and letters. We also publish research protocols, editorials, commentaries, and special communications. Articles with clinical interest and implications particularly in Africa and the developing world will be given preference.
